Nine Percent And Dropping

The approval rating of Congress is at an all time low. And I mean low. According to something called the Inquisitr, the people that approve of the job that Congress is doing is at a whopping nine percent. Nine. My only question at this time is who are those nine people and what, exactly, are their standards? I'm guessing that they have relatives in Congress or they're lobbyists. Because I can't think of any other reason why their approval rating would be as high as nine percent.

And what have people approved of more than Congress? Plenty of things. And a lot of them might surprise you. For example, apparently, a Rasmussen poll in 2011 had an 11% approval rating of the United States going Communist. Now, I don't think that being a Communist nation is all that great of an idea, but more people thought it was a better idea than approved of Congress.

Remember the atrocious BP oil spill? Right in the middle of that, 16% of people approved of BP. That was a complete disaster and yet more people approved of that than they did of Congress.

Even Richard Nixon amidst Watergate had better numbers than Congress does now. 24% of people approved of Nixon when it became obvious that he was a liar (and contrary to what he said, probably a crook). That's over two and a half times as many people (as a percentage) than those who currently approve of Congress.

Banks in 2011 are not exactly on anyone's Christmas card list. But for some reason, 23% of people approve of those. So banks are on a par with Richard Nixon and both were rated over twice as high as Congress. If you haven't caught on by now that people really think that Congress sucks, I don't think that there's much I can do for you at this point.

And for some reason, 40% of people approved of the IRS in 2009. I don't know why that's so high, but when you compare it to the 9% approval rating that Congress received, it's astronomically high. No one likes the IRS. How did they get 40% of folks to approve of them? Maybe they could give Congress some tips.

And here's the most amazing part of all of this: Even with a 9% approval rating, it seems that whenever elections roll around, the majority of these bozos end up getting re-elected. I'm not sure if that means that polls like these are meaningless or if the average American voter is a dumbass. What I'm afraid of is that it means both. In which case, we're totally scroomed.

But It's Only Been Three Days

If the Gallup Poll numbers released today are any indication, it would appear that we can look forward to at least four years of having things skewed in President Barry's favor as to make him appear to be even more God-like than he is perceived as being. That sounds like great fun, doesn't it?! Ugh.

Today, Gallup (who I generally like and tend to find validity in the polls that they do), with seemingly nothing better to do than crap like this, released the results of a survey done by conducting telephone interviews of 1,591 adults Wednesday to Friday. The results show that 68 percent of Americans approve of Barry's performance. Wow! 68 percent! That's amazing! That's like...hey, wait a minute. He's only been in office for THREE DAYS!!

Oh, wait. Sorry. He had been in office for three days for the folks that were polled on Friday! For the folks that were polled on Wednesday, he hadn't even been President for 24 hours! How are you supposed to answer that question?! "Um, well, OK, I...I guess." Would you really have a reason to disapprove less than 24 hours later? (That question posed as if you were an impartial observer giving a fair and balanced answer. Hahahaha!!)

Seriously, what would it take for people, after THREE DAYS, to disapprove of the job he's doing? Turn the White House into a pyramid? Start sagging his pants and wearing a baseball cap crooked? Put those two adorable little daughters of his up for auction on eBay? What would it take?

The article by the Associated Press states "That's a number near the high end for new presidents, but short of President John F. Kennedy's 72 percent in 1961." The article then goes on to seemingly reiterate that statement, but it turns out instead to be completely useless information that they're continuing to give us when they write "Among presidents elected to their first term, Kennedy had the highest initial job approval rating, 72 percent, in Gallup polling three weeks after his inauguration." Three weeks! Why are they polling people on President Barry only three days (or less) after his botched and flubbed inauguration? And why are they comparing it to other polls that they've conducted after three weeks?!

In more misleading and useless information, we're told that "The poll also found that 12 percent in the survey disapprove of Obama's job performance, a typical number all presidents face after an election." OK, so that's typical, right? That's what it says, but that's not what it says. Later. That's not what it says later. Not much later, but later. "Compared with his immediate predecessors, Obama faces fewer Americans who disapprove of his performance." But wait! You just said....

They don't care. They don't. I know they don't care because they threw out a contradicting statistic, hoping that you had forgotten what you had just read less than two minutes ago and are SO dumb that you'll find this new factoid simply lovely! "Clinton faced 20 percent disapproval after taking office in 1993, and George W. Bush faced 25 percent disapproval after the Supreme Court delivered him the presidency in 2000." Well, 20 percent and 25 percent do not seem like the typical 12 percent that all Presidents face after an election, now, does it? NO!!

This is either crap journalism, crap reporting or crap surveying methods. It's crap and it's one of those. I know that it's one of those because it's only been THREE DAYS since the man was sworn in and they're acting like a poll that was conducted after three days (TOPS!) is indicative of what a wonderfully popular president he is already! Whose idea was this survey anyway? Whoever it is should be fired, as they are clearly a moron. And having morons in charge of things or just running around making decisions all willy-nilly is never a good idea. Ever.

Three days. Three. If the Gallup folks had called me for this survey, I'd have to say that there's at least a 50% chance that I yell at the poor pollster. (Unless I was one of the folks that they called on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after the inauguration. Then there is a 100% chance I yell.) There's absolutely a 100% chance that I would refuse to answer that question. It's whether I would just decline to state an opinion or whether I would absolutely state an opinion (and most likely state it loudly), but it wouldn't be an opinion that they could check off a box on their tally sheet for. It would probably be an opinion that would get me on the Mandatory Do Not Call (Under Any Circumstances) list.

So the Associated Press is in the tank for President Barry. Good to know. I'll keep that in mind whenever I read any future articles they may write about President Barry. That way I'll be able to spot the bias more quickly which will enable me to spend less time reading Associated Press material as I will be moving on to another news source rather soon. What is wrong with you people?

Forget About Florida, What's Wrong With Texas?

I had asked what was wrong with the denizens of Florida that they were all so dim-witted, soft-headed and borderline mentally retarded. I never came up with an answer as to why, but I did present material that illustrated how I could make the assumption that Florida has become a refuge for the idiotic and the inane. Turns out, I probably should have asked what the problem is with the folks in Texas. Or at least what's wrong with the 23% of Texans polled that think that Barry is a Muslim. Good Lord, people.....

Fresh from the online site of the Houston Chronicle, we learn that a poll conducted by the University of Texas of registered voters statewide found that "...23 percent of Texans are convinced that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is a Muslim." See, I would have added the word "secret" to make it read "secret Muslim". Doesn't sound ridiculous when you say it? "I think he's a secret Muslim." Yes, it sounds hilariously asinine. (It looks even more asinine. See below.) But 23 percent of y'all down in Texas think it's a fact. Then again, 45 percent of y'all incorrectly thought that he was a Protestant. So, basically, 68 percent of y'all that were polled really should not vote. For anything. Not even dogcatcher.

The article says that the Texas numbers are surprising because nationwide, only 5 to 10 percent of people are moronic enough to think that Barry is a Muslim. Actually, a lot of the numbers in this poll are surprising to me. And they don't paint a very pretty picture of Texans. Or a very smart one. Actually, just the smart one, I don't care what y'all look like. (I'm fairly confident I can pick out the idiots on sight and just avoid them altogether, so I'm good there.) I do care about what it is exactly that you're so afraid of that you have to convince yourself that Barry is a Muslim. Are you afraid that after he gets elected he's going to turn the White House into a pyramid? (Although I'd really like to see that, I highly doubt it would happen even if Barry is elected. Why? Well, one, because it's silly. And two, because he's NOT a Muslim!)

34 percent of Texans in this poll said that they approve of the job that George W. Bush is doing. 34 percent?! Are you kidding me? Who are you people and what is your rationale for your "approval"? Oh, but 8 percent of you approve of the job Congress is doing? Again, I'd like to know what those 8 percent are basing their "approval" on because right now, Congress sucks. Congress clearly ranks lower than things like gonorrhea, paper cuts and leprosy. What have they done? I can't think of one single positive thing, which really makes me wonder what those 8 percent came up with that would cause them to give Congress the ol' thumbs up.

89 percent of those polled think that the country's economic situation is worse off today than it was a year ago. Again, those 11 percent who do NOT think that the country's economic situation is worse off today than a year ago, did you understand the question? ¿Habla usted inglés? Really, folks. Granted, the article doesn't say if those 11 percent thought that the country's economic situation was better off today than a year ago, but just stating that it is NOT WORSE is inexplicable.

And for some reason, the article seems to find it almost surprising that George W. Bush's approval rating is so low. After all, the article points out that "Just 34 percent of Texans approve of Bush's job performance — a big change for a former governor who won re-election 10 years ago with 70 percent of the vote." Yeah, that's a shocker, isn't it? TEN years later and people's opinions have changed! Amazing. Who'd a thunk it? That's not even a valid comparison to even try to make.

So, one more time. Barry is not, repeat, is NOT a Muslim. And actually, I'm seriously beginning to question why it is that a ridiculous amount of people still want to believe or say that they believe that Barry is a Muslim. It's pretty easy to figure out or find out that he is not a Muslim. (Have I mentioned that he's not a Muslim? He's not, you know.) Yet, a surprising number of people claim to think he is a Muslim.

It makes me wonder if (sadly enough) it's the race thing. I am well aware that there is a portion of society out there who will not vote for Barry simply because he is "technically black." (His Mom was white, but his Dad was black and people just tend to think of him as "a black guy".) And if you said that you weren't voting for someone because they were black, well, that would be frowned upon in most circles. And in most squares, as well. But to not vote for someone because you think they might be a secret Muslim? For some reason, that is more acceptable than saying that you wouldn't vote for someone because they were black. I don't get either one, (they're both stupid reasons not to vote for someone, by the way) but I have to wonder if that's part of the deal with this stuff. The video below is a fine example of the moronicism (Why, yes, I do believe that is a word.) that some people possess and express.

Muslim. It's the new black.
